We believe it is everyone’s duty to fight for a habitable future on our planet, and business is no exception.
So we are simultaneously very proud, and incredibly frustrated, to announce that we’ve joined Business Declares, the network of businesses who acknowledge the Climate and Ecological Emergency.
Proud, because we are among the first UK accounting companies to make this formal commitment.
And frustrated, because movements like this simply should not be necessary.
Doing no harm and having a positive impact on people and the planet should be every company’s minimum commitment.
But the extractive, destructive nature of capitalism, which requires endless growth as its sole measure of “success”, has been at the core of society for such a long time now that it can be hard to see another way to run an economy.
(Capitalism is just one theory; there are other models – check out Doughnut Economics).
So movements like Business Declares and BCorp are vital in pushing capitalism in the right direction, sitting in the boardroom and making it clear that ethical businesses are more profitable, more successful, thriving businesses.
And we’re pleased to be part of that journey.
KFA – impact minimisation
We designed our business to have as little impact as possible and our aim is to leave nothing but footprints.
We know from experience how daunting it is for business owners, who face many diverse challenges, to consider their environmental impact alongside their day-to-day pressures, so we aim to provide information and action to inspire positive change. We do this because we care
Concern for both people and the planet are not new to us and we look forward to continuing to share our journey and ensuring our voice is part of the collective, resounding call for change.
We are certainly not claiming to be perfect, neither are we judging others, instead we are part of a coalition of the willing looking to collaborate and accelerate action while continuing to highlight the challenges and uncomfortable truths.
But… change is coming.
